Job Description Summary: As a Software Engineer on the Enterprise Data Platform team, you will be responsible for design, and implementation of scalable, reliable and available software which pivots the evolution of our current to the next generation platform for our cloud provisioning and onboarding as we embark transformational cloud journey for all data services and engineering of PayPal Inc. You will be making key technology decisions, building & maintaining large production grade distributed systems that handle petabyte scale, providing delightful experience for PayPal. Your work would directly impact the cloud efficiency to enable fully governed provisioning experience for optimised utilisation of cloud with respect to cost and efficiency.

The Role:

As a Software Engineer on the Enterprise Data Platform team, you will be responsible for the evolution of our current to the next generation platform for our analytics needs in the cloud. You will be making key technology decisions, building & maintaining large production grade distributed systems that handle petabyte scale, working with our customers to resolve their day-to-day problems.



What You’ll Do

You will be responsible for design, and implementation of scalable, reliable and available software which pivots the evolution of our current to the next generation platform for our cloud provisioning and onboarding as we embark transformational cloud journey for all data services and engineering of PayPal Inc.

Anchor major team work-streams to build and improve large-scale distributed systems, grow the scale of our platform, reduce complexity, increase automation and burn down technical debt.

Develop solutions for PayPal engineers' needs with an eye towards self-service products backed by efficient operations

Effectively participate in code reviews.

Build key components of our platform via pair programming with other engineers

Collaborate with leadership, peers and customers to effectively deliver solutions and projects

Support production systems (Team rotation based)



What We're Looking For:

3+ years of experience in software engineering, technical leadership of the team of developers

Design and Operational Experience with large scale production grade distributed systems

Experience in one or more of the following: Python, Golang

Good to have: Ruby, Java and shell scripting

Good to have: Experience building and maintaining large distributed systems, software on one of the major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)



Good To Have:

Server-side software development experience

Experience in managing big-data infrastructure at petabyte scale

Data Analytics background to understand our stakeholders

Understanding of AWS and GCP technologies

Experience with Docker and Kubernetes

Experience with monitoring/logging tools and best practices

Test-driven development (TDD)
